Classic

  1. The Iliad
    from Public Domain Books.
What can I say? This is up there on one of my favorites! I had to have it on my Kindle just because of that.

  2. Great Expectations (Penguin Classics)
    from Penguin Classics Hardcover.
I am an English Major, so I have a soft spot for anything written by Dickens. I bought this for a friends graduation (get it...Great Expectations...)and I am jealous of her now. This edition comes hard bound with an old style canvas-like covering. As far as I've seen, it is a reliable and...

  3. Devotional Classics: Revised Edition: Selected Readings for Individuals and Groups
    from HarperOne.
This book is a great synopsis of Christian devotional masters. I highly recommend it to anyone serious about getting closer to Jesus.

  4. Treasure Island (Qualitas Classics)
    from Qualitas Classics.
I teach students with special needs. Stepping Stone books give me modified classic literature that stays fairly close to the original text. This allows my students to focus more on comprehension skills, and less on "getting through the book". Treasure Island is a favorite combined with an...

  5. The Classic Fairy Tales (Norton Critical Editions)
    from W. W. Norton & Company.
Being into fairytales and writing and illustrating for kids i thought it best to first do a study behind the tradition of fairytales. This text is a very interesting read and quite enjoyable, cause not only are there riveting discussions surrounding the very stories we grew hearing...but you are...

  6. Sense and Sensibility (Penguin Classics)
    from Penguin Classics Hardcover.
The Penguin clothbound classics are all beautiful, but I like the Sense and Sensibility cover the very best. They make beautiful gifts and look great on the bookshelf. I looked everywhere and the price I paid on Amazon ($13.60) is by far the cheapest. They're a bargain at that price.

  7. The Classic Slave Narratives
    from Signet Classics.
So the book was not in peak condition, it had half of the pages folded on the bottom right corner, and it was not delivered in a promt time. However there were no ink or pencil markings on the book.

  8. Classics of Moral And Political Theory
    from Hackett Pub Co.
i was really glad to find this book at a much lower price at Amazon. it is required reading - but I haven't had to do any reading just yet, as classes have only begun recently. My copy was used and a little beat up but better than i expected. Thanks.

  9. A Christmas Carol and Other Christmas Writings (Penguin Classics)
    from Penguin Classics Hardcover.

  10. Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking
    from Knopf.
This book is excellent- simple recipes that are fairly easy to make and thoroughly enjoyable--to make and eat!. What else could you ask from a book highly regarded by James Beard? I had a lot of fun making various kinds of pasta and learning to enjoy the "art of Italian eating".

  11. Classics of Public Administration
    from Wadsworth Publishing.
This book provides exposure to all the great classics of the field of Public Administration. All the keystone texts in the development of PA are provided with a brief essay describing the importance of each work to this discipline. You will not get a hands-on guide to administration, but you will...

  12. Classics of Organization Theory
    from Wadsworth Publishing.
This book was reduced by $4.00 from other advertised books. There were a couple of highlighted pages, but not that many. It arrived a little longer that I had anticipated from other times I had ordered via Amazon. But if I had to nit-pick something, that would be it.

  13. Cicero: Ancient Classics for English Readers
    from Echo Library.

  14. Old Granny Fox (Dover Children's Thrift Classics)
    from Dover Publications.
I chose this book to use for reading instruction. The print is big and bold. Just the right number of words per page for a child starting chapter books. The book is easily decodable, with a very few sophosticated (but still decodable)words sprinkled in like undignified, contentment, conceit, to...

  15. Brewing Classic Styles: 80 Winning Recipes Anyone Can Brew
    from Brewers Publications.
This is the best beer recipe book out there. If you are like me, I formulated many of my early beers from recipies on the internet. And if you are like me, my early beers were far from award winners. This book is set apart from other recipe books because every recipe has been proven in competition....

  16. Classics of Western Thought Series: Middle Ages, Renaissance and Reformation, Volume II
    from Wadsworth Publishing.

  17. Classic Christianity: Life's Too Short to Miss the Real Thing
    from Harvest House Publishers.
I highlighted the heck out of this book and keep re-reading. I've also been able to turn more areas of my life over to God in faith. Many folks at my church have been reading it as well and love it.

  18. The Odyssey (Penguin Classics)
    from Penguin Classics Hardcover.
This review is not a review of the story of Odysseus, but rather a review of Robert Fagles's translation of the Odyssey. Fagles's work in this translation is sparkling. I absolutely love the way he's revived this classic tale.
Let me begin with nuts and bolts. The Penguin Classics version of...

  19. Classic Indian Cooking
    from William Morrow Cookbooks.
We love Indian food. But my attempts at creating the occasional recipe gleaned from articles or even the couple of cookbooks from that region that I've acquired over the years have always fallen flat... eh... yeah... Indian-ish... kind of... but somehow still too ingredient-based elemental... not...

  20. Classics of Western Thought Series: The Ancient World, Volume I
    from Wadsworth Publishing.
Ordered this particular book to accompany a distance education course by the most excellent Dr. John Riddle of North Carolina State University. This book of original works was the basis for great literature discussions during this course.

[ Marriage & Divorce ] Open Question : Are my future relationships doomed because of this...?

I'm a 30 year old female and haven't had sex in almost 8 years. I am attractive and 5'8" 130lbs (so I'm not out of shape) and just finished my MBA at Yale. The last relationship (and sexual partner) that I had was my boyfriend from college and that was 8 years ago. I have had plenty of offers in the last 8 years, but I haven't met any man that I wanted to be intimate with. Do you think that this will hurt me in my next relationship? Do you think that my next boyfriend will think that its strange that I have not had sex in that long? I have been just so busy with work and school (I am now heading to law school this fall at Cornell). I do want to have sex again, but I want it to be meaningful and with a man that I truly care for and love. Not just some random guy that I met at a bar or dated briefly for a month. I am especially interested what all you guys think. Thanks in advance.

[ Baby Names ] Open Question : What would you consider a motherly name ?
