The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest
from Knopf.
We are told that The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest completes the trilogy of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Girl Who Played with Fire. However, there are rumors that before he died author Stieg Larsson had begun work on yet another book that is being edited for publication. Millions of...
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
from Vintage.
If there is such a thing as a woman's novel, then this must be the antithesis-- a men's novel. The main character Mikael Blomkvist, has no emotional life, no self-reflection, no growth as a character, and doesn't have deep feelings or cares. The mystery at the center of the book is the only thing...
The Girl Who Played with Fire (Vintage)
from Vintage.
explores the fine line between right and wrong in a well crafted story that will leave you guessing until the end. I can't wait to start the 3rd book.
The Malacca Conspiracy
from Zondervan.
Although I haven't read any of Don's other books, I definitely strongly reccommend "The Malacca Conspiracy"... Don has the gift of vividly describing scenes to make you feel as though you are there, and this would be a great read to take along with you on a late-summer vacation! Get ready to witness...
The Heir
from Bethany House.
While this was a great read with a surprise ending, the ending was too swift and the character's struggle to accept a billion dollars was unrealistic.
I don't care who you are noone would actually forfeit their father's fortune without keeping at least a little to survive on. But the intrigue...
The Goddess Of Fried Okra
from Bell Bridge Books.
What a great book! Eudora makes a great narrator, and all of the folks she teams up with throughout the book are entertaining in their own ways. I actually really loved the marker stops on the trip -- both in the narrative and interspersed between the chapters of the book. Having grown up in Texas,...
Calling Home
from Kensington.
i enjoyed this book. Life is not perfect and this family sure isn't either.
Beyond the Reflection's Edge (Echoes from the Edge)
from Zondervan.
Three parallel earths are about to go boom. Only a newly orphaned violinist holds the secret to stop it: a mirror that reflects a different world, one where his parents are still alive. Sullivan's Justice (Carolyn Sullivan)
from Pinnacle.

Curious Folks Ask: 162 Real Answers on Amazing Inventions, Fascinating Products, and Medical Mysteries
from FT Press.
I found the book to contain a list of decent questions but ultimately the answers were lacking. While some contained simple answers that most could understand, I found quite a few answers to be either parially wrong or to be very jargon-filled and unecessarily complex for the target audience of this...

Fly Away Home: A Novel
from Atria.
I've read previous Jennifer Weiner books in the past and have enjoyed most of them, so was excited when this book came out. It's a good light summer read but not as good as her past books. The ending was a disappointment. But overall, would recommend if you want a light book to read for the beach.
All Tied Up: Pleasure Inn, Book 1
from Samhain Publishing, Ltd..
I have to totally agree with Mom in Fl. This is a cute read, not too expensive. I was looking for much more in the way of sex than this novelette provided. But the story is cute and has its funny parts.
Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia
from Penguin (Non-Classics).
...how does this book help me? I can't leave my job and my three children to travel the world for a year with my $200,000 book advance, so how am I supposed to find spiritual enlightenment or whatever it is Miss Gilbert found?
I can believe that other women of Miss Gilbert's privileged class...
The Rembrandt Affair (Gabriel Allon)
from Putnam Adult.
I just started reading the Gabriel Allon series and have not been disappointed. After each book, I keep thinking how can he possibly top this book and then he does, spectacularly! I'm so depressed that now I have to wait a whole year for his next book!
Pride and Prejudice
from Public Domain Books.
Read this, and then re-read this. You will see elements to most every romance novel, play and movie produced since this work was published. If you're a bit obsessive, you may even become an Austenite, seeking P&P rewrites, continuations, movies derived from it, etc. My faves of these are Bridget...
Face of Betrayal (A Triple Threat Novel)
from Thomas Nelson.
The book was written okay, if a bit on the forumalic/predictable side.
The part I didn't care for was the very heavy-handed christian and conservative themes that run through the book. Given it was such a major plot point, I felt that it should have been alluded to in the description.
The Help
from Amy Einhorn Books/Putnam.
What a wonderful book. I couldn't set it down! Not only does it keep your attention and in suspense, but it sends a wonderful message. The characters in the story are so real and you fall in love with them (well most of them).
GET THIS BOOK, you won't be disappointed!
Sh*t My Dad Says
from It Books.
This book made me laugh out loud constantly. I wish it wasn't so profane so I could explain to my kids what it was making me laugh! A very heart-warming book, although a quick read.
